Thank you for joining our webinar!
Please find here a short recap on how you can try Admin UI for yourself:
- Install or upgrade to Exasol v8 2025.1
- Access the interface via web browser by entering the public IP address of a node with the port 8443, e.g. https://203.0.113.123:8843
Full documentation: Exasol Admin | Exasol DB Documentation
Please find here the Q&A of our session:
Is it possible to create backups to external storage?
First, a remote volume needs to be configured, which currently needs to be done in the CLI. AdminUI doesn’t distinguish between local and remote volumes and treats them all the same way. When scheduling a backup, AdminUI will present a list of all available volumes, including local and remote ones.
Is there information on the backup ID in list of backups?
Currently backup IDs are not included, but they will be in future updates.
Do the admin health plots work with multiple nodes?
Yes, as long as Admin UI is enabled on each node.
Does Admin UI support API calls for integration with third-party monitoring tools?
Admin UI does not offer such an API, however all information are based on system tables which can be queried and may be used with third-party monitoring tools.
Are backup schedules created using CONFD visible in Admin UI?
Yes.
Is Admin UI available for on-premises customers?
Yes, Admin UI is available for Exasol v8 2025.1, excluding SaaS which has its own GUI. When upgrading, you will need to activate it.
Do you plan to add the ability to restore from backups within Admin UI?
Yes, but there is currently no timeline yet. You can always restore a backup from the CLI, see the documentation: Restore Database Instance from Backup - On Premise | Exasol DB Documentation
Is it possible to create or delete buckets or BucketFS?
Currently only files can be managed. Buckets or BucketFS services need to managed via the CLI. Please refer to the documentation: BucketFS - Database Concepts | Exasol DB Documentation
Is it possible to view BucketFS from the access node as well?
Yes.
How do you restore a database from a backup using AdminUI?
Currently, this is not possible using the Admin UI, but will be in future version. For now, use the CLI to restore backups: Restore Database Instance from Backup - On Premise | Exasol DB Documentation
Will future versions of the UI support scaling the cluster up or down?
Elastically scaling up an down is not possible on-prem, just on SaaS. SaaS has its own UI where scaling is possible.
