Probable connection failure due to encryption?

Hi Community,

we have set up a new Tableau Server (Windows), which should access our new Exasol server (7.0.6). We also installed the driver (EXASOL_ODBC-7.1.2-x86_64) on the new Tableau Server. Unfortunately, the connection from the data sources from Tableau Server to Exasol should not work. An ODBC connection from Tableau Server to Exasol works (encryption = false). My guess is that it is due to new security settings in the version of Exasol.

Can I somehow deactivate the encryption for the entire Exasol server? Or are there other possible solutions?

Many greetings and thanks,
Peter

Hi @pbreidenich ,
I´m not familiar with how Tableau organizes it´s connections, but you could probably use the corresponding DSN-entry on the Windows server to disable encryption ( from a technical point of view ).

Have you had a look at this: https://www.exasol.com/support/browse/EXASOL-2936 ?

You could alternatively use a driver version <7.1 ( somwhere around the 7.0.x ) where the new SSL-features are not
yet included ?

Cheers,
Malte

Hey @mwellbro

now we have used an old version of the ODBC-driver (7.0.9).

Thanks for help and regards,
Peter
