Lua version update

Contributor

Hello!

Any chances that the version of Lua will get upgraded? I've got a function in a library and would like to pass on a dynamic structure of parameters, I know there is ARRAY but, it's kind of hacky solution as you have to rely on the position and really would prefer something Lua's named arguments (see http://www.lua.org/pil/5.3.html).

We would really appreciate Lua upgrades very much.
GOTO command would make things much easier and better readable. (Feeling like back in the days when developing with assambler :D)

Hi Michael,

updating the Lua version in the database is a frequent topic here at Exasol. It is a lot of effort since we have to deal with the fact that post-5.1 Lua uses a JIT compiler and we customized Lua quite a bit to make it convenient to work with in the database.

The more people express interest in an upgrade, the better the chances will be. So feedback like yours is definitely welcome. If other users read this and need an upgrade too, let us know in the comments!

Personally I am very eager to get constant variables (Lua 5.4).

Regards,

Sebastian
