# Allowing virtual schemas to pushdown to other virtual schemas

At least twice in the last few months I’ve run in to use cases where I wanted to have one virtual schema reference another one in the pushdown SQL and the virtual schema framework does not currently allow this.

Usually the scenario is where one virtual schema is pulling data from an external source and a higher level virtual schema is applying some security or semantic layer.

It would be useful if this could be supported.
